![]() A windsurfing and kitesurfing dream. No more, no less.
The Suez Canal has been a source of wealth for Egypt for decades. This waterway, linking the Mediterranean with the Gulf of Aden, saved European seamen a lot of time and money on their trading voyages to Asia. Less than 80 kilometres south of the canal mouth and a 3 hours drive away from Cairo we have discovered a new source. Not a source of wealth and luxury, but a unique oasis for windsurfers and kiters. Kitesurfing at Ras Sudr.
Seldom has a kitesurfing spot made such a convincing impression on us right from the start as Ras Sudr in Egypt. Ras Sudr is an excellent venue offering ideal conditions for all skills of kitesurfers. The large sandy beach close to our kitesurfing centre provides nearly unlimited space for first exercises with the kite as for launching. The shallow water area stretching almost 100 metres and the sideshore wind will allow every kitesurfer to make extremely fast progress. Ras Sudr is an excellent spot for tuition
Ras Sudr offers ideal conditions for beginners and intermediate kitesurfers. There is a shallow water area, 30-150 cm deep (tide-dependent), extending more than 100 m into the sea. Ras Sudr is a very safe Kitesurfing Spot
The spacious expanse of the spot ensures that kitesurfers and windsurfers will not get in each other's way because there are two different areas for each sport. The further windward you move, the more the beach expands. More advanced kitesurfers can sail a few hundred metres further on to a number of lagoons, which provide ideal conditions for practising, depending on the tide. You should only surf here in groups and inform the kitesurfing center in advance. |
