365 days a year you are enchanted by Andalusia’s wind and spirit

La Duna

Tarifa, "Capital of Wind", is a classic which has been rediscovered by many windsurfers and gains additional attraction due to its excellent reputation as a kite paradise. Besides the high wind potential, Tarifa has preserved a lot of her pristine character: The "white villages", flamenco and sevillana dancing, the sherry bodegas and tapas bars are all there to provide visitors with a glimpse of the typical Andalusian atmosphere. Cultural attractions are nearby and can be reached easily.

Feria

Trips to the famous Andalusian cities and towns of Seville, Jerez, Cadiz and Ronda are merely the nearest destinations. If you have never been to Morocco, you can explore Tanger on a conducted day trip. Those who are even slightly familiar with Spain will know that nights are not (only) there to sleep - and Tarifa also has plenty to offer when it comes to nightlife! This is clearly an ideal place to have a ball, both on the water and on the shore.

The spot in Tarifa
Tarifa is kitesurfers' mecca in Europe. There is a reason why the entire who's who of the kitesurfing community gathers at this venue: the unique winds prevailing here certainly make Tarifa one of the best and most popular kitesurfing spots in Europe. The kitesurf centre and the small hotel are surrounded by a park, with the fabulous, wide sandy beach, which traces the gentle curve of the bay and extends as far as the dunes, in front of them. Depending on the wind force, the protected bay provides optimum instruction conditions for all skills levels. The shorebreak may be slightly stronger only in autumn, if the wind is onshore (poniente). Kitesurf beginners' instruction depends on wind conditions and may not always be possible.

Wind and waves
The ideal wind is side-onshore from the right. It mainly blows in spring and autumn, and in summer as a thermal wind, with wind forces of around 3-5 bft. (Levante), comes side-offshore from the left, with wind forces of 6-8 bft. Admittedly, these are not the most ideal kitesurfing conditions, but we can still offer instruction in stronger winds because Valdevaqueros is one of the safest kitesurf spots in Tarifa when the levante is blowing.
The levante is the typical summer wind from June through September. The beach at Valdevaqueros is spacious and sandy, with no pebbles or rocks. The bay ends in a huge sand dune which gives everybody a feeling of safety and protects beginners from drifting away.

The Center
The Rancho Valdevaqueros center is located close to the dunes. The white, sandy beach, which extends over 10 km, is one of the finest on the Spanish coast. At the western end, the beach ends at a dune.
Our center at the Valdevaqueros Hotel is a suitable spot for kiteboarding beginners and intermediates, as well as experts. We offer first-rate instruction and rental options and the lates gear from North Kiteboarding. In Tarifa kitesurfers have their own dedicated area separate from the windsurfing' zone.
